The Sanderson Foundation

Investing in the Greatest Potential in Every Student

Sanderson High School faces a significant gap between the resources required for each student to realize their greatest potential and the funding the school actually receives. Simply put, Sanderson’s success depends on parent and community support. This support has always been a hallmark of the Sanderson community, but it’s even more crucial today —  and more help is needed.

The Sanderson Foundation was created to address three critical areas within this funding gap:

  • Teachers — supplementing staff levels and providing key resources
  • Technology — providing needed systems or equipment
  • Facilities — accelerating capital improvements

Despite launching just before the COVID pandemic, the Foundation has made a significant impact.

In its first four years, the Foundation funded the following initiatives:

  • Staffing support to add a freshman AP class
  • Reviving the student-led Senior Talk program with the PTO
  • Reinstating two critical software systems for teachers the county decided not to fund
  • Installing “Learniture” furniture system in one of the most used classrooms
  • Improving school atmosphere with murals at the school entrances and landscaping with the PTO
  • Providing COVID modifications in 2019-2020
  • Supporting racial equity training for Sanderson staff
  • Supplying portable air conditioners for Student Services offices
  • Providing new keyboards/trackpads for every teacher to take advantage of new WCPSS technology

These initiatives just scratch the surface, as the needs of the school continue to be significant. This means the support required from the community is also significant. You have the opportunity to directly impact the school, the classroom, the teachers, and most importantly the students. These young people need your help to realize their potential. When they become the best they can be, our community becomes the best it can be.
